Violent woman-hater Levi Bellfield is main Milly Dowler murder suspect
The man convicted yesterday of murdering two women and trying to kill a third was left free to continue his campaign of violence against women because of basic investigative errors by police. Levi Bellfield was found guilty at the Old Bailey of murdering Marsha McDonnell, 19, and Amelie Delagrange, 22, and attempting to murder Kate Sheedy. He was then identified as the prime suspect for the unsolved murder of the schoolgirl Milly Dowler. A Scotland Yard task force has been set up to investigate Bellfield’s possible connection to a series of 20 murders, attempted murders and other attacks dating back 25 years. Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton said that Bellfield was a dangerous man and that women would be safer now that he was behind bars.

Bettina Arndt: Get in, girls, before you flip
Young men were once the hunters. Pimply-faced youths were forced through the ordeal of putting themselves on the line and risking rejection. But now dating isn't just about the young. People of all ages are still out there, searching for a mate. And when they pass the carefree years of the 20s, the dating world is suddenly a very different place. When women hit their 30s, they encounter a "flip," which shifts the balance of power in the dating game irrevocably in the man's favour, according to blogger Sam de Brito. After years of grovelling for female company, now it is the men who find themselves in a buyer's market as women start to panic over finding partners willing to father children. "Mother nature is particularly unfair to her daughters and it's about age 32 that many women realise life's great game of musical chairs is cruelly weighted towards guys and there's not many seats left to sit on," writes Sam.
The Chronicle Sports Columnist Blog
Updating some Raiders news... Again, there are rumors that wide receiver Randy Moss and the Green Bay Packers are in talks regarding a trade for former Cal quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Once again, it's not true. We're being told by both sides that they have not talked, which means they haven't discussed a trade about Moss. Tight end Daniel Graham, probably the top player at his position in free agency, met with Raiders owner Al Davis, coach Lane Kiffin and team officials today and then flew to Seattle to meet with the Seahawks on Monday. The Vikings also reportedly have interest in Graham. Graham, 28, won two Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots and established himself as an outstanding blocker. But he also wants to catch the ball, and the Raiders would give him that opportunity.
Diamond Mogul Receives Angry Valentine
JDate users scouring the Jewish dating Web site in anticipation of Valentine's Day may have found a surprising match. Lev Leviev, the controversial Israeli diamond mogul, had appeared to register a profile on the site, including such information as, “in my free time, I enjoy: Exploitation, Profiteering, Union-Busting, and Macrame." The JDate profile was one of several recent Valentine's Day-themed acts of protest directed at Leviev, who in reality is not looking for love online but is a married father of nine and an active member of the Chabad-Lubavitch sect of Orthodox Judaism. His detractors oppose his use of diamond mines in Angola and what they say is his extensive involvement in housing construction for Jewish settlers on the West Bank. “Because a great deal of jewelry shopping goes on during the weekend before Valentine's Day, we thought it was appropriate to reach out to Valentine's Day shoppers and encourage them to stay away from Leviev's shop," said Issa Mikel, a human rights activist who works with Adalah-NY, a coalition of organizations strongly critical of Israeli policy.
Investing in non-commited jerk isn't worth it
What do you think of the saying "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" Let me explain. I'm dating a guy who refuses to be monogamous, so I told him I won't sleep with him anymore. We still hang out all the time, spend the night a lot, and even without sex, I feel so close to him! We cuddle all the time, we understand each other and I love waking up with someone holding me close. Some people say that our relationship is unhealthy because he won't commit to just me, what do you think? Cow for Sale Dear Cow for Sale, The classic underlying idea here is that by withholding sex, a woman hold's the power in a relationship and can thereby change a man. Well, let me drop a little bit of knowledge here: people aren't fixer-uppers, what you see is what you get.

Gregg Kobel Joins Mishawaka AA in Indiana
MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Just like an owner of a professional ball team tracks and lands a talented player out on the free-agent market, auction owner Jay Smith pursued and signed industry veteran Gregg Kobel to join his executive team at Mishawaka Auto Auction, whose name will soon change to South Bend Mishawaka Auto Auction Kobel divested his interest in the Tri-State Auto Auction of Chicago late last year and recently announced that he was partnering with Smith, who has owned the independent auction since 1985. Kobel will serve as its executive vice president and general manager. Smith was at one time looking to turn the Mishawaka AA's leadership reins over to his stepson, Joshua, but he was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Dec. 7, 2002, five months after Smith had moved the operation into a new facility. The 67-year-old Smith has two other sons, but he said they are successfully employed as a police officer and school teacher. "So, as you can imagine, I've been looking for the past few years for somebody of Gregg's experience and stature to help take the auction to the next level," Smith told Auto Remarketing. "When I heard Gregg was available, I thought this was a perfect opportunity and the best person for our auction," Smith pointed out. "We did a lot of dating before we started dancing," he said, laughing. "But seriously, we could not be more pleased, and we are tremendously excited to bring on board somebody who has so much knowledge and the wealth of contacts built up over years who can help make our sale one of the premier auto auctions in the Midwest," Smith indicated. Kobel, who has 37 years of experience in the auction industry and is past president of the National Auto Auction Association, also expressed enthusiasm about his new venture.
