Tommy Lee and Another Trashy Blond (Hint: It's Not Pammy)

I officially refuse to believe that Pammy's ex hubby, Tommy Lee, is dating Lorenzo Lamas' ex wife (well, one of his ex wives anyway). It just can't be. I mean, really, it's impossible. My brain just can't filter that kind of information so early in the morning. And it's not Tommy that makes me want to go outside and shout "Nooooooooooooo" like in one of those Greek tragedies or cheap Spanish soap operas my granny is so keen on. No, it's his date the luscious, beautiful and delicate creature that is Shauna Sand .

A Radiant Woman

Yet sending a collection or a novel out to be published is never easy. “I deal with myself as a critic. I always go back to my writing and rework it. For something to go into a newspaper is one thing, publishing work in a book is different. A book has its own aura, its own rituals,” el-Behairy explains.

Getting a publisher to publish her work is another story, but el-Behairy, confident of her talents based on the critical acclaim her works receive, believes she has been marginalized. “It is often female writers who work in the media who get the most attention,” she points out. El-Behairy is not alone in this. “There is a whole group of us female writers who have been marginalized. We work in jobs that have nothing to do with culture. We were not included in the Maktabet el-Osra project, were not invited to seminars, and our work was published by the most [obscure] of publishing organizations.

New Year's baby notched up holiday tally for parents

As Benjamin laid on the hospital room sofa, deep in the slumber of an exhausted new parent, Michelle recounted the rest of their milestones.

"We started dating on Thanksgiving (2006) and we were engaged on Christmas Eve," she said.

The couple first met in 1991 in Mount Vernon, Ind., when Michelle's father brought her family there because of his job, she said.

"We were in the same home-school group," she said.

Michelle ended up living in Kansas City, Mo. She reconnected with Benjamin after finding his MySpace page while surfing the Internet on the Fourth of July 2006.

Benjamin, 24, is employed by Insight Communications, where he works as a television and cable repair crew member.

Michelle, 25, is planning to be a stay-at-home mother.

"I tease him that I want 10 other children," she said.

Just Call Me Wingmom

When my two best friends, Erika and Carol, announced that they were sick of nursing their broken hearts and were ready to start dating again, I was elated for them and terrified for myself. Where, I wondered would that leave me? At age 38, with two kids under 6 and a husband, my romantic life was far from exciting. Although we are all the same age, and Carol also has two children, the possibility loomed that they would soon be leading exciting lives as youngish singletons while I was stuck in the doldrums of advancing years and married life. The first inkling of what lay ahead came last Halloween. Erika, who doesn't have children, went to a singles party dressed as a sexy bee and danced till dawn on a podium. I, on the other hand, spent Halloween trudging around a Medway subdivision trying to keep Kieran, my milk-allergic son, from accidentally ingesting a Milky Way while I was unsuccessfully scraping dog poop from the bottom of my shoe.

Rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, had pledged to free four Colombian politicians: former Reps. Gloria Polanco and Orlando Beltran and ex-Sens. Luis Eladio Perez and Jorge Gechem.

The rebels are to turn the hostages over to officials sent by President Hugo Chavez's government, as they did last month with two other politicians freed by Colombia's dominant rebel band: Clara Rojas and Consuelo Gonzalez.

Venezuelan state radio said a batallion of 60 FARC guerrillas would free the four in the same place where Rojas and Gonzalez were handed over on Jan. 10, the hamlet of La Paz.

Aboard the helicopters Wednesday were Venezuela's justice minister, Ramon Rodriguez Chacin and the Colombian Sen. Piedad Cordoba, as well as four Red Cross representatives and doctors to treat the hostages.

Langkow's passing fancy

Throw in the fact the Calgary Flames were mired in their recently ended five-game losing skid, and it made the situation doubly painful.

And then, tack on Langkow's offensive struggles amidst the team's free fall, to boot.

It adds up to a whole lot of disappointment.

Now, imagine how relieved the centre feels, having set up Kristian Huselius' game-winning goal in Calgary's last-minute 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild Tuesday night.

Langkow may be quiet and soft-spoken, but takes great pride in being one of the most consistent players you'll find in the NHL.

Going four games without a point -- and missing one match due to having his bell rung -- will make any player feel they're not pulling their weight.

Langkow admitted yesterday he wasn't happy about not coming through with production while Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay were carrying the bulk of the offensive load.
