A couple of hundred" students were involved in the protest, which began during lunch hour in an open patio next to the cafeteria, said Quintin Taylor, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade School Board. Minor injuries were reported among police and students, and video from the scene showed several students being led away as if under arrest. McAfee throws some FUD at the GPL
Nice article man! It almost made me cry there! Wow, yea, I agree totally, these big corporations re just evil. It takes too much effort to be creative, too much money to spend which would lower the profit, so why not take what's already done and proven solid - open source. Why not, after all, who cares about all the geeks sweating over their keyboards and offering the fruits of their effort to the world to benefit. It's expensive to be M$, or any big corporation. All those private jets and waste on luxury, leave very little left to invest in actual coding effort. So why not take what you need from where it's free, get the job done. Who's gonna ever know? Not like anybody will have access to the source code to reveal the profanity. In the end you can smile from above the silly crowd and call yourself innovative.
Web Scammer Targets Senior U.S. Executives
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- For months, a sophisticated hacker has been stealing the personal data of American corporate executives. Hot on the hacker's trail is Joe Stewart. The former bass-guitarist-turned-cyber-sleuth stumbled onto the case in February. Since then, the 36-year-old Mr. Stewart has spent weeks in his office, in a nondescript building next to a half-abandoned strip mall here, virtually chasing the mysterious perpetrator across several continents. Mr. Stewart early on thought he had traced the scammer to China, then realized it was a false lead. Only when the perpetrator stumbled did Mr. Stewart get a break in the case. Mr. Stewart, a top researcher for Atlanta-based Internet security firm SecureWorks Inc., says most of the scammed executives declined requests to discuss their experience.
Rudd prepares to unveil ministry
PRIME Minister-elect Kevin Rudd will unveil his first ministry tomorrow and denies he is under any pressure from Labor factions over the line-up. Mr Rudd is expected to start ringing MPs later tonight to tell them whether they have made the 30-seat front bench. Nervous frontbenchers attended factional meetings tonight, joking about their chances of keeping their positions. Mr Rudd – the first Labor leader in a century to be given the authority to choose his own front bench on merit, rather than factional allegiance – will announce his ministry at a meeting of Labor MPs in Parliament House tomorrow morning. "I was very upfront about this during the election campaign with my colleagues," Mr Rudd said to the Seven Network.
